Last week it was Amsterdam Fashion Week and I was honored to get to see some shows. Last monday I went to two fashion shows with Ikram and Maureen; one of a German designer named Arrey and a Dutch one named Franzel. It was nice to see the new collection and get some fashion inspiration for summer 2016.

The look that I was wearing for the Fashion Week is the new collection of Elisabetta Franchi fall/winter 2015/2016. I’m in love with this brand. Every piece that she makes is luxurious, sophisticated and feminine. I feel like a modern princess in her dresses. Soon I will tell you more about this brand. I finished my look with a tangerine and white striped clutch of L.K Bennett with matching lipstick and wearing my hair in a wet look.

Dubai Getaway

A couple of months ago I went to Dubai with my boyfriend to have a little getaway. I was really craving for some sun. Being mixed race and living in Holland makes me sometimes in need for some extra vitamin D. Our trip was only for five days, but Dubai treated us well. Everyday it was around 26 degrees Celsius, so there was not a lot of wardrobe involved during our stay.

I’m looking forward for those warm days to share more summer looks with you!

I Support Sustainable Luxury

Jewelry is one of the most intimate accessory a girl can get. Receiving a handpicked piece of jewelry from your loved ones is something to hold on for the rest of your life.  I still can remember my first piece, it was a closed-forever bracelet I got from my parents for my 15th birthday. On this day forward I still own this bracelet and my private jewelry collection became bigger. For me, receiving jewelry is like collecting memories.

What if those memories can be sustainable luxury by using fairtrade gold and non-mined diamonds. That is what House of Eleonore stands for. This new jewelry brand based in Amsterdam creates fine diamond jewelry, using the most rarest diamonds in the world. Their first collection is inspired by the breathtaking color palette of Papua New Guinea’s fauna & flora. But next to the collection they have a service that allows you to create your own, personalized jewelry pieces, down to the smallest detail. House of Eleonore knows how to build memories.

This is me, a thirty-something city girl from Amsterdam who wants to share her love for fashion, food & beauty with you.

Growing up as a little girl, I was lucky to be around a mother and grandmother who were always busy with sewing the latest fashion trends. They made the most amazing, sometimes most embarrassing, outfits. Sorry mom, but the sailor outfit with matching hat was no success. However, because of this interest in fashion from my family, I developed a strong sense about what clothes can do for you from a young age. When I started modelling at the age of 16, I had my shortcomings in the most literal sense. I am 5,7ft (fashions models usually have to be at least 5,9ft), but I was well aware that wearing the right clothes to a casting or client could make me stand out from the rest in spite of my height.

I believe that fashion can emphasize ones personality and uplift ones spirit. The same applies for beauty, especially make-up. It is fun to see what a bit of make-up can do. I like to play around with different colours and try out new things. Of course, I still have my fashion faux pas and sometimes see pictures of myself wearing a bit too much of everything. Nevertheless, my motto is “never put yourself in a box”. Therefore, I don’t have a signature look. I dress how I feel. The same applies when it comes down to food. Having a mix-raced ethnic background made me grow up with food from overseas. As a kid, I couldn’t really appreciate this. As I grew older and moved on my own however, I was grateful to my mother for making me help her out in the kitchen. Nowadays, I love cooking and surprising my friends with a traditional Indonesian rice table.

So, this is me in a nutshell. I hope you enjoyed reading my first post and stay tuned for more.

With love,

Mijn motto is “never put yourself in a box”.

With love,
